ALL AGES AND ABILITIES! Not only can swimming save a life, it’s one of the only sports that becomes a lifetime activity. This page has your information for group, private and semi-private swim lessons.
PRIVATE & SEMI PRIVATE OUTDOOR SWIM LESSONS
The MAC swim instructors use a positive coaching approach to help swimmers of all ages develop a love of the water.
Simply put, we all learn in different ways. Sometimes, swimmers need one-on-one time to get started with a new skill, and then thrive in a group environment in the future. Our team @ The MAC understand your children have varying needs. Many parents of young swimmers inquire about whether their child should have private or group swim lessons. Just like your child, the answer is unique and our recommendation depends on your child’s specific circumstances. Private lessons are great for adults as well.
Call 573-449-2606, e-mail [email protected] or stop by the MAC to schedule!
Do we have to be members of the MAC Summer Club to take private lessons?
Yes, the swimmer must be a member of the MAC Summer Club. Not a member yet? Contact us for membership information and vacation at the MAC this summer!
Why choose private lessons?
Establishing Trust and Comfort For children who are apprehensive about the water, one-on-one time with a highly trained swim instructor may be the best option for developing trust – both of the teacher and of the process.
Improving Confidence Depending on the child’s past experiences and current skills, confidence may first need to be established in private lessons, where the child is learning the basics.
Schedules Private swim lessons offer a convenient schedule your coach will create with you.
Overcoming Challenges and Building Skills For nearly all swim students, a time will come when they are challenged on a particular skill. One on one times gives them personalized coaching. Students who are enrolled in group swim lessons can also sign up for supplemental private swim lessons to help them work on the skill in a one-on-one setting.

LEVEL 1 PARENT/CHILD Age 6 months-4 years An enjoyable class for a parent and child to learn to communicate in the water. Both parent and child learn water orientation, blowing bubbles, getting their face wet, and basic fundamentals. Benefits include bonding with child, water awareness, water safety, children begin to learn to take instruction, self-confidence, and as they get older begin to develop beginning swimming skills.
LEVEL 2 Age 5-7 A water adjustment class designed especially for beginners in the water to develop beginning swimming skills and promote independent water movement. Begins to teach basic stroke and kicking skills, blowing bubbles, floating both front and back as well as pool safety and fun ways to learn to fall in love with the water.
LEVEL 3 A class for little swimmers who are already moving independently through the water 5 ft. Introduces rotary breathing and a variety of water skills to continue to grow independence in the water. We work on kicking and jumping in the water independently.
LEVEL 4 JR SHARK For children who are comfortable in the water and able to swim 10+ feet with faces in the water and no flotation device. The primary focus of this level is on rotary breathing and learning backstroke properly, freestyle independently, elementary backstroke and treading water. We start the basics of butterfly and diving. Perfect way to prepare kids for swim team in future summers.
