Have you ever walked into a room and felt warm and accepted? Or maybe as if you were not meant to be there? This is energy or vibration.

We are energetic human beings. Every part of our being is composed of some sort of energy wave. Our bones, cells, muscles, skin and even our thoughts produce energy. L-fields are subtle physical fields that are measured electrically and T-fields are thought fields. We will discuss T-fields in our next post. Electromagnetism underlies the entire universe and we are constantly interacting with both healing and harmful waves. Geopathic stress is the harmful effect of energy that is counterintuitive to our own natural energy production. This can come in the form of electromagnetic radiation.Overexposure to these strong electromagnetic forces can damage the tissues inside and around the body. These can come in the form of ELF (extreme low frequency radiation from power lines to electrical devices), Radio frequency (cell phones), Visible light (fluorescent bulbs), Ultraviolet light (sun), microwaves, and x-rays. Near infrared light waves are the closest thing to the sun without the harmful UV waves. This makes it one of the most natural sources to our bodies own electromagnetism and helps to reduce damaging EMF waves. Red and near-infrared light penetrates through tissue by moving past the watery surface layers of our skin (this isn’t done through far infrared or LED).

Health is maintained by finding a balance in all of our energy fields. Photobiomodulation (as red light and near-infrared therapy is called) has received increasing peer reviewed research and found numerous benefits. Head trauma, neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and dementia) and psychiatric disorders (anxiety and depression) have shown improvement in areas such as cognitive performance, improving memory, improving sleep, and improving emotional regulation .PBM has also been studied with autoimmune diseases in that it resets the immune system. It changes the macrophage phenotype from m1 to m2. So instead of being pro-inflammatory and damaging, you start getting the anti-inflammatory healing phenotype. Photobiomodulation has also been show to effect fat loss by raising mitochondrial membrane potential, to shift the metabolism towards oxidative phosphorylation, increase ATP, increase cyclic AMP, which activates this hormone-sensitive lipase.

We have chosen to bring in SaunaSpace (TM) red light therapy for the whole host of benefits it potentiates for our members. We are excited to bring red light therapy to our hot yoga studio space!

With the state of the world as it is right now, you may find yourself feeling stressed or worried. While it may not be the first thing you want to do, getting active benefits both your physical and mental health. These uncertain times are tough, but don’t let it be a setback to your health and fitness goals as well. While things aren’t completely back to normal, take this time to try out a new healthy recipe, a new group fitness class (online or in-club), or switch up your walking route in your neighborhood. Check out these 7 benefits you’ll gain by being active!

Boost your immune system: Research shows that regular, moderate-intensity exercise has immune-boosting benefits that may help your body fight off infections.

Improves your mood: Exercise usually makes you happier. Hormones like endorphins are released during exercise and evoke positive feelings and a sense of confidence and well-being.

Build muscle and strength: Exercise makes your body physically stronger, because it builds bone and muscle strength. Stronger bones contribute to better balance and stability.

Manage your weight: Physical activity increases the number of calories your body uses for energy and offsets the effects of sedentary activities.

Reduce stress & anxiety: Exercise is a proven mood-booster and can help reduce stress levels and build emotional resilience.

Sleep better: There is evidence that shows when you’re tired, you sleep better. Regular exercise helps you fall asleep faster and improves sleep quality. The stress relieving effect helps your mind and body relax.

Reduce the risk against health conditions: By helping with weight management, exercise helps reduce your risk of obesity-related diseases like diabetes and heart disease. Consistent exercise also keeps your blood sugar and insulin levels at healthy levels. Exercise also triggers the production of anti-oxidants that repair skin cell damage and stimulate blood flow.

References:

https://www.westernconnecticuthealthnetwork.org/newsroom/article-listing/adults-exercise-and-covid19

https://www.activehealth.sg/read/physical-activity/10-benefits-of-physical-activity

Lisa Glass doesn’t exercise. No, Lisa incorporates movement and activity into her daily life and always has. Growing up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin throwing hay bales. Working as a nanny in Massachusetts raking leaves and swimming laps. And as a mom of 4 in Missouri riding bikes as a primary mode of transportation. Lisa doesn’t like sitting around and she’s happiest when expending energy.

Before motherhood, Lisa lived in Pennsylvania and participated in aqua classes, enjoying her workout at the end of a long workday. It was then she discovered the many benefits of aqua exercise. Not only does the water alleviate pressure on the joints, but the buoyancy also reduces impact significantly from that of exercise on land. Aqua classes increase circulation, reduce blood pressure, and build endurance and muscle strength. And just being in the water soothes tension and relieves stress. When Lisa started coming to FIT in April 2005, she had an infant and a 2-year-old. The freedom to exercise daily in a social environment, while her children were cared for made FIT her home away from home. And since she had joint issues at the time, being back in the water was perfect for providing total support for her body.

As a faithful, daily participant, it didn’t take long for the current class instructors to recruit Lisa to become an instructor herself. She certified with the United States Water Fitness Association and a few months later, began teaching and has loved it ever since. Lisa regularly completes continuing education by attending specialty workshops and goes to other instructor’s classes because her body loves to be in the water. Over the years, Lisa has been a steady presence at Wilson’s womens-only gym, and her 4 kids have grown up there. Anyone who knows her knows that Lisa positively glows. And her laugh can be heard ringing down the hallway. She keeps it fresh and challenging, offering a great workout to her class members. Her participants say Lisa never fails to show up on time, with a smile, and motivate them with her enthusiasm.

Lisa still seamlessly blends physical activity with her daily routine; she doesn’t just talk the talk, she walks the walk. And she rolls with it—on her rollerblades, twice a week for cardio. And she rides it—on her bike to teach her classes. Lisa and bicycles go way back. Sometimes she rides alongside her husband, Tim on his way to work at Mizzou, stopping at a local restaurant for an impromptu breakfast date. Married for nearly 23 years, they teach their children not to be dependent on a car, encouraging them to bike and walk whenever they can. Their family vacations often include hiking, and when the kids were younger, ‘hiking training’ prepared them for the rigors of bigger treks, and lessened the likelihood of complaining. The whole family looks forward to the new trail connector opening later this year right from the Wilson’s parking lot.

In her spare time she enjoys cooking and baking and sharing that hobby with her kids when they’re out of school. Lisa loves working with photos and making scrapbooks, occasionally joining friends out of town for the to work on their projects together. Recently, Lisa and her family returned from a mission trip with their church to El Salvador. There she had the opportunity to participate in ‘active singing.’ Jumping and dancing in the bright mid-day sun, she sang with the group jubilantly in Spanish. Not exercising, just burning calories and having the time of her life.
