Travis R / Katie T

Travis R / Katie T

Either of these instructors may be teaching the class.

For Travis Ritter, fitness is a way of life. A tennis player from a young age through high school, he now actively participates in triathlons. As of October 2018, he has completed 30+ triathlons of all different distances, including two Ironman distance races.
Travis uses indoor cycling and yoga to train for races year round. In RPM and Flight, the group atmosphere, the upbeat music, and the variations in the releases/profiles make the workouts challenging yet fun. Yoga has improved his overall lifestyle by reducing stress, reducing his chance for overuse injuries, and improving his mental focus.
When Travis decided to become certified to teach Les Mills RPM, Stages Flight and Yoga, he combined his cycling knowledge with a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training to become an authentic and well-rounded instructor with much to offer his members. Now he enjoys helping others reach their goals, facilitating fitness to enrich their lives the way it’s enhanced his own. He’s been teaching at Wilson’s since 2015.  “Don’t be intimidated to try a new class at Wilson’s. The instructors want to help you through, so if a class interests you, try it!”

Katie Tillman is certified in Les Mills BodyAttack, Sh’Bam and RPM, Stages Indoor Cycling and Flight, and YogaFit Level 1, and is also a Certified Personal Trainer through ISSA and SCW.   She currently teaches Hot and Cool Fusion, RPM, Flight, and Sh’Bam.  She took personal training clients and coached Team Training for a couple of years when her kids were babies, but now she works full time and teaches group fitness in her free time.

Katie started teaching because she always took dance growing up, and almost all group fitness classes involve teaching choreography to music, so it felt right.  She also felt like group fitness inspired her to become fitter and healthier than she could have ever become on her own.  She continues to teach because the gym is like a second family.  Her fellow instructors and class members are her friends, and class is a space of acceptance and positivity – she goes to class to have fun!  “It’s one of the rare opportunities that, as an adult, you get to participate in a fun, voluntary group activity that doesn’t involve drinking!”

Her favorite part about teaching is making people feel successful and proud – that can happen at any level, and it is key to getting people to come back and make fitness a permanent lifestyle.  She also likes motivating people to work harder than they ever would outside the studio – and like it!

She is a 200 RYT, through Yoga Alliance, and has a 100 hour specialty certification in Yoga for Athletes.  She also holds certifications Les Mills BodyAttack, BodyFlow, BodyPump and RPM; Stages Indoor Cycling and Flight; DK Body Pilates; and Animal Flow Level 1. She currently teaches BodyPump, RPM, Hot Barre, BodyAttack, BodyFlow, Fusion, Chair Yoga, Balance Board, and Warrior Yoga and takes personal training clients.

“I love motivating people to feel empowered and successful; to do something they didn’t think they could do, or be someone they didn’t think they could be.”  She also finds it uplifting to see the camaraderie that develops within a class or training session, and the gym community.

Amber Blumberg

Amber Blumberg

Amber is a Les Mills BodyPump certified instructor and started teaching at Wilson’s in 2019.  She chose to become a fitness instructor because group fitness has had such a positive impact on her life, mostly because the instructors were so motivating and the environment so welcoming.  She loves connecting with people and loves fitness so teaching allows her to incorporate both of these things at the same time.  She currently teaches BodyPump and Balance Board classes.

About 6 years ago, Amber decided to make health and fitness a priority in her life after realizing that her weight and lifestyle were holding her back.  She had never prioritized fitness as an adult and wanted to make a change.  She lost almost 100 pounds, mainly because of her involvement in group fitness at Wilson’s!  She started attending lots of different classes and fell in love with yoga and BodyJam.  In the last year, she started to focus more on strength with classes like BodyPump and GRIT.

Amber loves teaching because she is able to educate people on their health and fitness.  She also loves the opportunity to meet new people.  “Watching people grow in their fitness journey is such a reward!”

She loves attending her husband, Eric’s, GRIT classes, too.  “He’s one of my fitness heroes!”  Amber is a middle school band director by day.  She has two sons, Carter and Lyndon, and step-daughter, Trina.

Kimberly Uffmann

Kimberly Uffmann

Kim holds a certification with Les Mills in BodyJam, which she received in March of 2016. She began teaching for Wilson’s shortly after. “Dance has always been my form of fitness. I danced in high school, and after that, I took classes at MCB here in Columbia. When my class was cancelled, I found BodyJam.” It didn’t take long for Kim to realize she ‘needed’ to become an instructor, she just had to wait for the rest of her life to fall into place before she could make it happen. Her instructor, Kelly Lancey, was a big influence and encouraged Kim to go to training. It was in Kelly’s classes that Kim found a dance outlet where she could really let go and add her own flair. Now, as an instructor herself, Kim loves having the opportunity to encourage others just as she was encouraged. “I want them to come and sweat and get a great workout, but also to have fun, let loose, and put their own feelings into the movements.”

While Kim loves the music and the dancing, her favorite part of teaching is sharing all of it with an amazing group of people. “My Jammers are my family! We support one another both inside and outside of the gym. I can be having the worst day and when I get in that room with them I can feed off of their positive energy! I love hearing how they feel the same and that they ‘need’ their jam time, too!”

Kim is also a kindergarten teacher in Columbia and recently graduated from MU, obtaining her certificate for administration. She lives with her husband, Bryce and fur baby, Maize.

Robin M / Cassie K

Robin M / Cassie K

Either of these instructors may be teaching the class:

Robin May is certified in KettleWorX, indoor cycling and TRX. Before becoming an instructor, Robin took spinning classes at Wilson’s in 2001 and fell in love with its intensity and cross training benefits. In high school she enjoyed competitive sports, especially basketball and volleyball. After marrying a runner in 1994, she slowly, but surely became serious about running. Starting in 2000 she has competed races of all distances including three marathons and several duathlons.

Robin has always been an athlete, but after she started her exercise routine and healthy eating as an adult, she lost 40 lbs. She wanted to help others and inspire them in ways that were personal to her. “I understand what it’s like to be self-conscious about body image and I want to help people in that struggle.”  When she became an instructor in 2007, she started with indoor cycling. And when she needed a new challenge, she found it with KettleWorX in 2014. Robin currently teaches KettleWorX and Hot Barre at Wilson’s.

“Teaching motivates me to live fitness as a lifestyle. It also challenges me both physically and mentally and I enjoy that added dimension of the workout. Plus, I really like being in charge!“ Above all, she loves her members and the friendships that have come from her classes. And she loves for new people to try her classes. Teaching gives her a chance to be a cheerleader for others in their fitness journey. “It is so exciting to see people transform their lives!” I love for new people to try my classes. I get excited to see new faces, especially at 5:30 a.m.!

Cassie Kauffman has her YogaFit Level 1 certification and currently teaches Hot Barre and KettleworX at Wilson’s. Growing up, she was active in dance and cheerleading. She got involved with group fitness and running when her best friend passed away from ovarian cancer at the age of 28. She has completed several races, half marathons, and trail races. In 2018, another instructor encouraged her to go for her aspiration of becoming an instructor so she did!

“Teaching is a great way to be a better version of myself.” Cassie has two children, ages 4 and 2, and its very important for her to stay active and healthy, especially with them watching. Working out has always been a great stress reliever and a way to clear her mind… which is necessary for her sanity! She loves teaching because she wants to provide that stress relief for others. She attended Wilson’s group fitness classes for years and has always found it motivating to work out in a group setting and push yourself with your friends. “Wilson’s has amazing members that help make the classes fun.”

Lacey started at Wilson’s in 2017 and is currently teaching Aerial Yoga, Aerial 101, Aerial Silks Level 1, Board Balance, and BodyFlow.  Her certifications include 250 hours Aerial Yoga Training through Aerial Yoga Academy and Les Mills BodyFlow.  Lacey used to hate working out or pretty much any kind of fitness or sport.  After college, she tried out a few gyms with little success… until 2015 when she discovered Wilson’s and her first fitness love – aerial silks.  The challenge to both mind and body combined with an amazing support system surrounding the classes finally helped her find her love of fitness.

Lacey became an instructor because she wanted to support others in their fitness goals like her instructors had done for her.  She loves the community in the group fitness classes.  She looks forward to coming to her classes to get a whole workout, share her knowledge, and also for the social experience.  Lacey encourages everyone to try a class that is outside of their comfort zones.  “Many times I’ve had people tell me that they had wanted to try an aerial class or board balance but were intimidated.  Please don’t be!  These classes are open to EVERYBODY for a reason.  Come try them out!”

Either of these instructors may be teaching this class.

Joy Millard holds multiple certifications including Les Mills BodyPump and Body Flow, Yoga Fit Level 1, and Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) Group Fitness. She’s not sure how long she’s been at Wilson’s but knows it’s a long time because she taught through both her pregnancies, and as of 2016, her two boys are 24 and 27. Joy stays because she truly enjoys it. “I love interacting with clients, being a bit of a clown and having a good time. Fitness can be a ‘family’ activity and encouraging the class members is fun.” Joy loves the community of regular folks trying to stay active in a sedentary world. “I love changing the shapes of our bodies, calming our minds and having a good time.”

Joy currently teaches BodyPump and Yoga. And she wants her member to know, when she’s singing BodyPump songs, she’s usually making up the words.

Anne Janku holds a Yoga Alliance 200 hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training. She first joined Wilson’s in 1986 and began instructing yoga in 2003. She’s been a competitive runner, a US Cycling Federation bike racer, and a triathlete. She originally pursued teaching to deepen her own practice; in her words, “teaching to learn.”

Anne particularly likes teaching at Wilson’s because the participants are involved in a variety of physical experiences and come to class physically and mentally prepared to try new things. “I really enjoy the creative challenge of meeting people on the mat and helping them progress in their yoga journey.”
