SPECIALTY CLASSES & WHAT TO BRING

*Specialty Classes are $7.50 + tax for any Wilson’s member and $15.00 + tax for non-members. HH = Happy Hour Classes are $5.00 + tax for members and non-members.

Contact MEMBER SERVICES to find out how to add Specialty Classes (those marked with *) to your membership and enroll for free.

  1. Please bring a water bottle to all classes to stay hydrated.
  2. Yoga mats are required for yoga and barre classes.
  3. Aerobics specific shoes are recommended for cardio classes and S.P.D. cycling shoes are recommended for cycling classes.
  4. Schedule is subject to change due to low attendance, instructor injury or instructor availability.
  5. Inclement weather policy: Please call ahead for changes to due weather.

Classes have been set up to complement each other. Please feel free to attend more than one class to achieve overall fitness.

*SPECIALTY CLASS ENROLLMENT:  (Regular classes do not require enrollment)  Advanced booking is encouraged for Specialty Classes and is available one week prior to class.

  1. Enroll online or at your club.
  2. No refunds are given for cancellations less than two hours prior to class time.
  3. If you have not enrolled prior to arriving at the club, you may be placed on a waiting list until 5 minutes before class begins.
  4. Once you arrive at the club, please check in at the front desk and receive a wristband which will be collected by the instructor prior to the start of class.
  5. All participants must have signed in 5 minutes prior to start of class to ensure their spot. This is for your safety to get acclimated to the heat as well as to open space for those on the waiting list. If you have not checked in 5 minutes prior to class, your spot will be given to the next person on the waiting list and no refunds will be given.
  6. For those whose membership includes unlimited free specialty classes, a cancellation fee of $5 will be assessed to your account for any class cancelled less than 2 hours prior to class. A $5 cancellation fee will also be assessed if you are too late to attend or don’t show up for class.

Phillip has been teaching on the Wilson’s team since 2016, when he earned his Group Fitness and Les Mills GRIT certifications.  He currently teaches GRIT and Kickboxing.  Phillip became an instructor shortly after two other GRIT instructors talked him into it!  He regularly teaches early morning (5:30am) classes and is always inspired by his dedicated regulars who wake up so early to put in the work.  An Air Force Veteran, Phillip is no stranger to tough workouts!

Jody is certified in Zumba and Les Mills BodyAttack and joined the Wilson’s team in 2019.  She is currently teaching both Zumba and BodyAttack.  Jody began her fitness journey four years ago when her oldest daughter convinced her to sign up for a 5K race.  She was nervous, but set a goal to finish the race (and not finish last).  She trained for a few months, finished the race, and to her surprise, got second place in her age division.  She was hooked and has been running 5K’s (and 10K’s and half marathons!) ever since.

Jody discovered group fitness classes in 2018.  While she was a little intimidated and nervous to go try something new, her daughter again encouraged her and she fell in love with the group fitness atmosphere.  Her favorites were BodyAttack and BodyJam.  She never dreamed she’d be an instructor, but when an instructor/mentor asked her if she’d like to teach, she realized she did.  She wanted to help others fall in love with group fitness just as she did; to provide that fun, welcoming, positive environment; and to help students view exercise as fun.  She wants to let participants know that it doesn’t matter your age, size, or fitness level. Group fitness is for everyone.  “Don’t be intimidated like I was all those years.  Walk through that door.  You won’t be sorry.”

After working as an RN for over 20 years, Jody is now retired.  When she isn’t teaching, she enjoys spending time with her three adult children and her four beautiful grandchildren… and vacationing to Florida where she and her husband keep their 5th wheel camper for a little winter home!

Fitness (a pre- and post-natal exercise program); Les Mills BodyAttack, BodyPump and RPM; Stages Indoor Cycling and Flight; DK Body Pilates; YogaFit Level 1; and Animal Flow Level 1. She currently teaches BodyPump, RPM, Hot Barre, BodyAttack, and Balance Board and takes personal training clients.

When she was pregnant with her first child, Meghan was 120 pounds heavier.  “I learned how quickly lifestyle and diet can get out of control.”  Meghan came to work (with her baby) in the Wilson’s playcenter in 2006.  Being in a supportive, healthy environment led to weight loss, fitness, and education.  In 2009 she became a personal trainer and was excited to help others.  She maintained a healthy diet and weight through her other three pregnancies, and her passion for exercise grew to encompass group fitness as well.

“I love motivating people to feel empowered and successful; to do something they didn’t think they could do, or be someone they didn’t think they could be.”  She also finds it uplifting to see the camaraderie that develops within a class, training session, and the gym community.

Debbie started teaching at Wilson’s in 2017, but has been an instructor for over 25 years.  She is an ACE-Certified Personal Trainer, and holds certifications in Les Mills BodyAttack, BodyPump, BodyVive, CxWorX, RPM; Arthritis Foundation water aerobics; NDEITA Group Fitness; and FiTOUR Group Fitness.  She is currently teaching BodyAttack, BodyPump, and RPM.

Debbie is a veteran when it comes to exercise.  A graduate of Central Missouri Methodist College, she was later inducted into the Hairston Athletic Hall of Fame for accomplishments as a student athlete in both track & field and basketball.  She served in the United States Army Reserve and received four Army Achievement Awards for her accomplishments on the Army Physical Fitness Test.

For Debbie, teaching group fitness was the best way to stay in shape after collegiate sports.  She likes how the people work together for one common goal:  to get fit and stay fit.  Debbie’s exuberant inspiration motivates people to achieve their maximum potential in fitness!

Chuck started teaching spinning at Wilson’s in 1997, after becoming certified in Johnny G. Spinning.  Fitness has played a major role in Chuck’s life; he has been a triathlete, road runner, cyclist, weightlifter, baseball player, and wrestler.  Chuck first started working at Wilson’s at the front desk and would take spinning classes on his days off, but as an employee, he would have to give up his bike to a member if the class filled.  Tired of getting booted, he decided to become the instructor!

Chuck loves to push his clients, to make them work harder than they thought they could, and to see the results.  Plus, he likes being in control!  He wants his members to know that they are capable of way more than they think.  If they train hard and learn to control their doubt and anxiety, they can exceed their goals.

Michael “Griff” Griffith has been teaching Les Mills BodyCombat at Wilson’s since getting certified in 2017.  He became a “gym person” when his first child was born over 16 years ago and fell in love with some of the Les Mills classes.  He was inspired by several instructors over the years and while he’s somewhat of a teacher at heart, he wasn’t sure if he’d be able to devote the time and energy it takes to be a group fitness instructor.  Boy, was he wrong!  He loves being part of something bigger than himself.  The team camaraderie is amazing and he loves to see class participants push themselves to new heights.

Michael suffered a major knee injury over 20 years ago and though his knee was surgically repaired through orthopedics, his “fixed” knee has always been a little different.  There was a time a few years ago when he thought he’d have to give up his two classes he loves most, BodyCombat and BodyPump.  He had hit the age of 50 and thought he had missed his opportunity to become a great instructor.  After discovering a supplement that ultimately improved his knee pain (and overall joint health), he decided to jump on a training opportunity for BodyCombat.  He was told that training would be intense but it would change him in ways both in AND out of the gym.  They were right; it made him grow personally and helped him professionally in his other job.  He is very appreciative for the inspiration he received and wishes now to inspire others.  Michael firmly believes that we need to keep moving as we age and he’s grateful to be a part of the Wilson’s team!

The instructors will use personalized modification so that all levels receive a quality workout that fits their needs and goals. Tina got her start in fitness in the early 90’s as a group exercise participant and was invited to train as an instructor for a local health club in Amarillo, TX.  She started with aquatic exercise and delved into as many facets of that format as she could find, excelling as an instructor.  Through the years, she branched out to teaching various aerobics, strength and flexibility, bootcamp and HIIT style, yoga, and pilates classes.  More recently, her interests lean toward the aerial arts.

Tina is certified in AEA, AFAA, ICSA Pilates, Moms in Motion, Hydrofit, and Arthritis Foundation.  She has been an instructor for 27 years and started at Wilson’s in 1992.  She currently teaches water aerobics, pilates, yoga, aerial yoga, and aerial hammock skills.  Over the years, she has found that her overall health (physical and mental) is better and she is capable of so much more than others her age because she has stayed fit.  She loves teaching because of the interaction with her participants and seeing them evolve.  As they become stronger and more proficient, she likes to find new or different ways to challenge them and help them achieve their goals.  “Seeing participants’ smiles, hearing their success stories, and watching their confidence grow proves to me that I am making a difference in their lives.”

In her spare time, she makes cakes – big/small, fancy, fun, fondant, crazy cakes!  It started when her son asked her to make a soccer ball cake for his 11th birthday.  She thought, “Hey, I’ve watched a lot of Cake Boss – I’ll give it a go!”  Her background in graphic design and art transferred over nicely and she’s been creating fun, edible works of art ever since.

Introduction to Aerial Fabrics is a prerequisite for this class, an acrobatic fitness fusion class that will lift you off the ground and get your heart pumping. This challenging art form builds unparalleled upper body and core strength, kinesthetic awareness, coordination and confidence. A dynamic warm-up leads to light stretching, skill-building including climbs, footlocks, poses, sequences, and inversions. Building off the basics learned in the intro class and working at their own pace, students will advance to more difficult moves as they become stronger. Class concludes with a yoga-inspired cool down and flexibility work. Content will be dependent on experience level of those in attendance. Prerequisite: Must complete Intro to Aerial Fabrics to participate in this class. Not recommended during pregnancy. Please consult your physician.

Cortney joined the Wilson’s team in 2018.  Holding her YogaFit Level 1, she currently teaches Aerial Hammock Conditioning.  She danced through high school and entertained bursts of fitness throughout life, but had no lasting interest in fitness until trying aerial silks.  The artistry combined with athleticism appealed to her.  Since becoming an aerialist, she has begun cross training with yoga, weightlifting, and running.

Cortney wanted to become an instructor to show people that fitness is for everyone.  “People are often intimidated by the gym to the point that they feel they need to become fit before they can come to the gym to get fit.”  The supportive environment of group classes takes away some of the pressure of coming to the gym.  Cortney wouldn’t be nearly as fit as she is without the encouragement of some amazing instructors – and she wants to pass that same feeling long to others.  What she loves most about teaching is the moment when something “clicks” for a participant and they nail a pose or trick for the very first time.  She wants her members to know that fitness isn’t about how much you weigh or how much you can lift; its a commitment to making the healthiest choices for your physical and mental health.

Katy fell in love with group fitness during her undergrad years at Mizzou and decided she wanted to teach.  She became certified in Les Mills BodyPump in 2008, then RPM in 2010, and just added Stages Flight in Jan 2018.  She has been teaching classes since 2008, but joined the Wilson’s team in 2018, where she currently teaches RPM.

Katy chose to become an instructor because the combination of health and fitness was always important to her – in both her personal life and career (she’s a Physician Assistant).  Group fitness was the type of workout that she always returned to. She has trained for half marathons and tried various other forms of exercise, but having an instructor-based class setting is the most motivating and dependable work out for her!

She loves teaching because of the connections you make with people you may otherwise never interact with!  Also,”regardless of the day you’ve had or he stressors you may encounter – RPM is a 50 min break from whatever challenges life may throw at you!”

Hannah Henze

Hannah is certified in YogaFit Level I and YogaFit Seniors. She currently teaches Aerial Yoga, Aerial 101, and Restorative Aerial Yoga, and subs for Intro to Aerial Fabrics Basics, Aerial Fabrics Skills, and yoga. She’s also training to teach Hot Yoga.

Active throughout school, Hannah danced, marched in the band, competed in gymnastics, track and field, and cross country. In college she discovered roller derby, pole fitness, and aerial arts. When she became an instructor at Wilson’s in June 2015, she wanted to share her love for aerial arts and yoga, and remains passionate about continuing her education. Personally, she is expanding her horizons by training in various circus arts including contortion, corde lisse, and flying trapeze. Hannah also has a combined Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, and health science as well as two different minors in nuclear engineering. In addition to performing aerial arts and competing in pole championships, she works full time for the University of Missouri.

Hannah loves seeing breakthroughs in her students when, after working through a move in aerial, their faces light up. She also loves bringing the joy of yoga to her participants with no competition or expectation. “Yoga isn’t about if we’re flexible or strong enough; it’s about coming back to your center, finding your ground.” Hannah wants people to know instructors are here to help them grow in their journey of self-discovery. “Don’t be afraid to push yourself and step out of your comfort zone. Don’t let fear keep you from exploring what you’re capable of.”
