Cassie Kauffman

Cassie Kauffman

Cassie has her YogaFit Level 1 and Les Mills BodyAttack certifications and currently teaches BodyAttack, Hot Barre and KettleworX at Wilson’s. Growing up, she was active in dance and cheerleading. She got involved with group fitness and running when her best friend passed away from ovarian cancer at the age of 28. She has completed several races, half marathons, and trail races. In 2018, another instructor encouraged her to go for her aspiration of becoming an instructor so she did!

“Teaching is a great way to be a better version of myself.” Cassie has two children, ages 4 and 2, and its very important for her to stay active and healthy, especially with them watching. Working out has always been a great stress reliever and a way to clear her mind… which is necessary for her sanity! She loves teaching because she wants to provide that stress relief for others. She attended Wilson’s group fitness classes for years and has always found it motivating to work out in a group setting and push yourself with your friends. “Wilson’s has amazing members that help make the classes fun.”

Ali Wood

Ali Wood

Alissa “Ali” Wood has been a fitness instructor since 2012 and joined the Wilson’s team in 2017.  She is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and is certified in YogaFit Level 1, Les Mills BodyFlow, and Parisi.  Ali currently teaches TBW, yoga, BodyFlow, and Kickboxing.  She became an instructor because of the people; she wants to put something positive back into the world and spread knowledge.  She needs to give in order to feel a sense of purpose and she loves helping other people feel good.  Ali loves the after-glow of a good workout – when it’s finished and everyone is spent and they get the collective “ahhhh”.

A former middle school teacher and librarian, Ali loves to read and write, and never tires for learning.  She appreciates the challenge of goal-setting and thrives on creating anything from recipes to home decor… but wouldn’t call herself artsy – crafty, maybe.  For her, the creative process is the enjoyment, just like fitness!

Tia Wood

Tia Wood

Tia is certified in Les Mills GRIT and teaches GRIT and Kettle/TRX Circuit.  While new to the instructor world, she has been into fitness for several years.  She lost 50 pounds before getting married 6 years ago and that really opened her up to a love of fitness from lifting weights and putting on muscle, to running her first marathon and cycling in a triathlon relay.

Tia loves fitness and helping people, so teaching is a way to combine the two!  She loves to help others experience amazing changes like she has.  What she enjoys most about teaching is that she gets to meet new people and watch them show up and push themselves, then see that feeling of accomplishment they experience when class is over.  It’s like she gets sympathy endorphins from it!

When not helping people on their health journey or keeping up with her toddler daughter, Tia also provides business consulting, with more than a decade of experience in marketing.

Joy Millard

Joy Millard

Joy holds multiple certifications including Les Mills BodyPump and Body Flow, Yoga Fit Level 1, and Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) Group Fitness. She started dancing when she was six and continued through junior high. In high school, she moved on to tennis and swim team, and in college, she took many physical education classes such as bowling, dance and movement, swimming for conditioning, and beginning, intermediate and advanced racquetball. After college she missed ‘the sweat’ and vowed never to stop exercising.

She’s not sure how long she’s been at Wilson’s but knows it’s a long time because she taught through both her pregnancies, and as of 2016, her two boys are 24 and 27. Joy stays because she truly enjoys it. “I love interacting with clients, being a bit of a clown and having a good time. Fitness can be a ‘family’ activity and encouraging the class members is fun.” Joy loves the community of regular folks trying to stay active in a sedentary world. “I love changing the shapes of our bodies, calming our minds and having a good time.”

Joy currently teaches BodyPump, Total Body Workout (TBW), and Yoga. And she wants her member to know, when she’s singing BodyPump songs, she’s usually making up the words.

Instructor: Cortney Hutson

Cortney Hutson

Cortney Hutson

Cortney joined the Wilson’s team in 2018.  Holding her YogaFit Level 1, she currently teaches Aerial Hammock Conditioning.  She danced through high school and entertained bursts of fitness throughout life, but had no lasting interest in fitness until trying aerial silks.  The artistry combined with athleticism appealed to her.  Since becoming an aerialist, she has begun cross training with yoga, weightlifting, and running.

Cortney wanted to become an instructor to show people that fitness is for everyone.  “People are often intimidated by the gym to the point that they feel they need to become fit before they can come to the gym to get fit.”  The supportive environment of group classes takes away some of the pressure of coming to the gym.  Cortney wouldn’t be nearly as fit as she is without the encouragement of some amazing instructors – and she wants to pass that same feeling long to others.  What she loves most about teaching is the moment when something “clicks” for a participant and they nail a pose or trick for the very first time.  She wants her members to know that fitness isn’t about how much you weigh or how much you can lift; its a commitment to making the healthiest choices for your physical and mental health.

Meshelle has developed many long-term friendships over the past decades with her wonderful Wilson’s members.  She is truly grateful for each person that comes to her classes!

Erin started teaching Aerial Conditioning and Training at Wilson’s in 2018, but has over 27 years of aerial experience.  She grew up in Redlands, CA and joined the All-American Youth Circus in 1992 when she was 9. She spent 8 years training in acrogymnastics, high wire, multiple and single trapeze, Spanish web, Lyra, aerial ribbon, handbalancing, and was a trainer for swinging ladders. In 2001, she joined the American Acrobats, a professional troupe also located in Redlands, CA. She trained and performed aerial ribbon, poles, duo, single and bungee trapeze, Spanish web, duo balancing, Trio Girls, contortion and Lyra all across the United States and Canada.

She has also done been a stunt double on “Malcolm in the Middle” and stunt performer on “One on One” and a double for Jewel.

Being an aerial instructor is in her blood!  She loves seeing students push themselves, get stronger, then impress themselves with their progress.  She wants members to know that sometimes aerial can look and feel intimidating, but everyone started in the same place.  Remember to have patience with your body and keep pushing through – you will see results!

Kimberly Uffmann

Kimberly Uffmann

Kim holds a certification with Les Mills in BodyJam, which she received in March of 2016. She began teaching for Wilson’s shortly after. “Dance has always been my form of fitness. I danced in high school, and after that, I took classes at MCB here in Columbia. When my class was cancelled, I found BodyJam.” It didn’t take long for Kim to realize she ‘needed’ to become an instructor, she just had to wait for the rest of her life to fall into place before she could make it happen. Her instructor, Kelly Lancey, was a big influence and encouraged Kim to go to training. It was in Kelly’s classes that Kim found a dance outlet where she could really let go and add her own flair. Now, as an instructor herself, Kim loves having the opportunity to encourage others just as she was encouraged. “I want them to come and sweat and get a great workout, but also to have fun, let loose, and put their own feelings into the movements.”

While Kim loves the music and the dancing, her favorite part of teaching is sharing all of it with an amazing group of people. “My Jammers are my family! We support one another both inside and outside of the gym. I can be having the worst day and when I get in that room with them I can feed off of their positive energy! I love hearing how they feel the same and that they ‘need’ their jam time, too!”

Kim is also a kindergarten teacher in Columbia and recently graduated from MU, obtaining her certificate for administration. She lives with her husband, Bryce and fur baby, Maize.
