Betty Bohon

Betty Bohon

Betty is certified through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) in Group Fitness, Les Mills in RPM and BodyVive, and has trained for BOSU and TRX. A fixture at Wilson’s Fitness since 1996, her teaching career began in the early 80’s. She’s taught multiple formats, including step, ‘slide’ and group racquetball and currently teaches RPM and BOSU along with Hot Barre in the hot studio.

Though Betty was athletic as a child, her real start with fitness began when she was 29. After having her first child she began jogging to lose weight. Then she started running races. Then marathons, including the infamous Boston Marathon. She  also played competitive women’s racquetball, biked the MS 150 and took aerobics classes. Betty chose to become an instructor when coaxed by an instructor to channel her passion for working out. “I love sharing the knowledge I have acquired along the way and watching people see that fitness is fun; it gives you energy and makes you feel great!” She wants her members to get excited about living a healthy lifestyle and be good examples for their families and friends, too.

What Betty loves most is motivating people to believe they have an inner athlete, that they can become fitter, and it is never too late! Since she was almost 30 when she began, she inspires her participants simply by walking the walk. “If I can inspire just one person to get healthier each time I lead a class, then I am fulfilled. I have done the job that I love so much.”

Laura Sobieck

Laura Sobieck

Laura began her career in fitness with a lifestyle change. After having children, she worked hard to lose 40 lbs. and in the process developed a love for fitness; especially group classes. She went from participating to teaching and obtained her certification in Les Mills BodyPump in January 2012 and in Les Mills GRIT in March 2013. She’s been teaching at Wilson’s since 2012.

As Laura became more and more active in fitness, she educated herself about nutrition and exercise philosophies like martial arts, HIIT, Pilates, weight training, TRX, yoga, and Tabata. She doesn’t have just one preferred method of working out; she incorporates a wide variety of cross training into her own workouts and inspires her members to do the same.

“I love being a part of people’s daily routine in the group setting and encouraging them to achieve their own fitness goals, whether that be just starting out, moving to another level, or trying something new.”

Kelie Morgan

Kelie holds certifications in Les Mills BodyStep, BodyPump, BodyAttack, GRIT, BodyFlow, and CXWorX. She is also a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF). Always athletic, Kelie was active in sports when she was younger, but didn’t discover group fitness until after she had her second baby and needed to get 60 pounds of pregnancy off. She started attending BodyStep and was instantly hooked. “The endorphins and the adrenaline were real and so were the results!” Less than  year later, she went to her first training. That was in 2008 and she’s been teaching multiple classes every week since. Currently, Kelie teaches BodyStep, BodyFlow, and CXWorX and also serves as Wilson’s  Director of Team Training.

At first, becoming an instructor was about the challenge of doing something far outside of her comfort zone. But once she started, it became more about her members. “I realized that I could help them and lift them, even if it was just for one hour a day. It was clear to me then, that this was not just a hobby or a fun pastime for me, it was my passion.”

Kelie wants her participants to know that she has been where they have been.; she’s been overweight and out of shape, she’s been injured, overworked and overstressed. She knows the reasons that stop them from taking that first scary step into the group fitness studio. But she promises, “I will be there to welcome you, introduce you to a friend and above all else, give you a great workout!”

She also holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Nursing and began her teaching career on the college level, instructing nursing students. Janette became an instructor in 2013 when she wanted to learn more about the classes and practices she loved herself. “As I started the process, sharing what I was passionate about came very naturally for me. My medical background adds significantly to the knowledge of exercise I bring to the classes I teach. I find joy in seeing and helping others love their fitness class too.”

Physically active her entire life, Janette seeks athletic adventures. Exercise as a hobby or in competition has always been important to her. For nearly 15 years she’s been a regular participant in group fitness classes and has been running just as long. Through her running career she’s met many significant personal goals including running the Boston Marathon. Group fitness classes have played a tremendous role in helping her achieve these goals.

She loves pushing herself physically alongside her members, motivating them through challenges, then together, celebrating the accomplishment of the finish. She particularly loves when she can help someone find a new way, a modification of a pose or an exercise that allows them to get the maximum benefit for their bodies. “The greatest reward for me is seeing a light of confidence or success come across their face when they realize they too can do it.” When she’s not at the gym, Janette enjoys spending time with her sweet family. Amy Appold

Amy, by her own definition, is a latecomer to group fitness. She worked out for the first time in her life at age 39 after undergoing treatment for cancer, but it didn’t take long for her to become ‘addicted.’ Amy is certified in Les Mills BodyStep and BodyPump and has been teaching at Wilson’s since the fall of 2008. Becoming an instructor was the next logical goal for her once she acquired her personal fitness level as it seemed to fit her skills; Amy is a virtuoso violinist and has a vast background as a professional musician and now teaches her own violin students. Being a group fitness instructor also fit her personality. “It was a challenge, and I love a challenge.”

Amy encourages her participants to strive to reach their goals with as much detail, excellence and drive as they can. “I love it when I can help someone realize that they can do it; that they are doing it, and that they love doing it, more than they thought they would.”

As a two-time cancer survivor who began her pursuit of physical fitness later in life, she wants her members to know that it doesn’t take anything they don’t already have to become physically fit. “If I can do it, you can do it!”

She started dancing when she was six and continued through junior high. In high school, she moved on to tennis and swim team, and in college, she took many physical education classes such as bowling, dance and movement, swimming for conditioning, and beginning, intermediate and advanced racquetball. After college she missed ‘the sweat’ and vowed never to stop exercising.

She’s not sure how long she’s been at Wilson’s but knows it’s a long time because she taught through both her pregnancies, and as of 2016, her two boys are 24 and 27. Joy stays because she truly enjoys it. “I love interacting with clients, being a bit of a clown and having a good time. Fitness can be a ‘family’ activity and encouraging the class members is fun.” Joy loves the community of regular folks trying to stay active in a sedentary world. “I love changing the shapes of our bodies, calming our minds and having a good time.”

Joy currently teaches BodyPump and Yoga. And she wants her member to know, when she’s singing BodyPump songs, she’s usually making up the words.

Anne holds a Yoga Alliance 200 hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training. She first joined Wilson’s in 1986 and began instructing yoga in 2003. She’s been a competitive runner, a US Cycling Federation bike racer, and a triathlete. She originally pursued teaching to deepen her own practice; in her words, “teaching to learn.”

Anne particularly likes teaching at Wilson’s because the participants are involved in a variety of physical experiences and come to class physically and mentally prepared to try new things. “I really enjoy the creative challenge of meeting people on the mat and helping them progress in their yoga journey.”

She’s also pursing a personal training certification through the American Council on Exercise (ACE).

Kelli played volleyball in high school and college and has always had a passion for staying fit and healthy. For years, she participated in classes. It was her admiration for her own instructors that influenced her to take the leap to become an instructor herself. “I love having a positive impact on so many people and helping them reach their goals. I know what it takes to motivate myself, so I try to project that to my members.” When not teaching classes, Kelli stays busy raising beautiful twin girls.

Robin May

Robin is certified in KettleWorX, indoor cycling and TRX. Before becoming an instructor, Robin took spinning classes at Wilson’s in 2001 and fell in love with its intensity and cross training benefits. In high school she enjoyed competitive sports, especially basketball and volleyball. After marrying a runner in 1994, she slowly, but surely became serious about running. Starting in 2000 she has competed races of all distances including three marathons and several duathlons.

Robin has always been an athlete, but after she started her exercise routine and healthy eating as an adult, she lost 40 lbs. She wanted to help others and inspire them in ways that were personal to her. “I understand what it’s like to be self-conscious about body image and I want to help people in that struggle.”  When she became an instructor in 2007, she started with indoor cycling. And when she needed a new challenge, she found it with KettleWorX in 2014. Robin currently teaches KettleWorX and Hot Barre at Wilson’s.

“Teaching motivates me to live fitness as a lifestyle. It also challenges me both physically and mentally and I enjoy that added dimension of the workout. Plus, I really like being in charge!“ Above all, she loves her members and the friendships that have come from her classes. And she loves for new people to try her classes. Teaching gives her a chance to be a cheerleader for others in their fitness journey. “It is so exciting to see people transform their lives!” I love for new people to try my classes. I get excited to see new faces, especially at 5:30 a.m.!

Amanda Bruns

Amanda Bruns

Amanda knows how to bring fun to fitness, and, as a former competitive swimmer, runner and rower, she knows how to push her body to the limit. Applying that combination to her teaching makes her members work hard and love every minute of it. Amanda has been teaching at Wilson’s since 2013 with a certification in Les Mills Sh’Bam. She also teaches Hot Barre in the hot studio.

Group fitness helped Amanda appreciate all her body does for her. “I wanted to be an instructor in hopes of giving back and helping others feel the same appreciation.” The best thing she likes about teaching is ‘getting goofy and sassy’ in order to put smiles on the faces of her participants. “I love getting to know members. If you ever want to talk fitness and fun, by all means, come talk to me.”

Eric Blumberg

Eric Blumberg

Eric has always worked out at the gym, but it wasn’t until 2010, when he got bored on the treadmill, that he attended classes. After a few years as a participant he was challenged by another instructor to take the next step in his fitness career and train as a coach. Eric rose to the challenge and hasn’t stopped since. He now holds three certifications through Les Mills; GRIT, BodyPump, and CXWorX and has been teaching all three classes at Wilson’s since February 2013.

Eric enjoys getting to know his members, watching them get ‘addicted’ to the workout and change their bodies, just like he did. “I like to work out in a team environment. The people in my class push me just like I push them.” As a former TV sports reporter who now makes videos at Veterans United Home Loans, this media buff promotes his classes on social media and uses Facebook groups to communicate and create personal relationships. “I do my best to inform and entertain my class as their coach.”

Amy Eultgen

Amy Eultgen

Amy completed her 200 RYT in 2014 and realized it was just the beginning of her journey. Her interest in yoga was piqued after taking a one-credit PE course at community college. In 2011, she trained in YogaFit Level 1 and began teaching at the Mizzou Rec Center. She came to Wilson’s in the summer of 2013 after obtaining her undergraduate degree of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology at the University of Missouri.

Amy enjoys running—and has completed six half marathons—as well as swimming and weight lifting. But most of all, she enjoys teaching her classes. “I love the post-class yoga high. I learn so much about myself on and off of the mat that I wanted to be able to help guide others along the experience. You create a community when you teach, which keeps people coming back.” In the summer you can find her on the roof at the District, teaching with Mother Nature. And in the winter, she will be inside the hot studio teaching Gentle Flow.
